Jeanne's Story
Life
I graduated from Rosary High School, Detroit, MI in 1965. It is another Adrian Dominican School that closed (much too soon - it was only open for 18 years). My position now is the Executive Assistant for Alumnae Relations in the Development Office of the Adrian Dominican Sisters. We are based in Detroit at the convent of Dominican High School and Academy, which has just announced that it will be closing this June after 65 years. I am in charge of setting up the reunions for the closed schools around the midwest. We have done reunions for Rosary High, Detroit, Hoban Dominican in Cleveland, Aquinas Dominican in Chicago, Bishop Quarter Military Academy in Chicago, and now Mt. St. Mary Academy in St. Charles. I LOVE MY JOB...Expand for more
!! I am married with 5 children, and my oldest sister is an Adrian Dominican based in Seattle, WA.
Workplace
I began as a secondary teacher at Dominican High School in Detroit right out of college. After marriage and a couple of kids, I returned to work at a community center as the office manager of the Maintenance and Housekeeping Department. From there, I worked in a bookkeeping office for 4 years, handling client accounts and taxes. Needing a change (and more income) I answered an ad for an office manager for a non-profit organization that turned out to be the Adrian Dominican Sisters Development Office, based at Dominican High School - talk about deja-vu!! I have been in this office for 8 1/2 years and really enjoy it.
